Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

  • Born between 02 July 2005 and 02 January 2009
  • Upper Age Limit: 21 years at the time of enrollment

Marital Status

  • Only unmarried candidates are eligible.
  • Candidates must undertake not to marry or (for female candidates) not to get pregnant during the 4-year service period.

Educational Qualification

For Science Subjects

  • 10+2 with Physics, Math & English with a minimum of 50% aggregate and 50% in English
    OR
  • 3-Year Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, CS, IT, etc.) with 50% overall and 50% in English
    OR
  • 2-year vocational course with physics and math + 50% aggregate and 50% in English

Other Than Science Subjects

  • 10+2 in any stream with 50% marks and 50% in English
    OR
  • 2-year vocational course with 50% aggregate and 50% in English marks

Domicile Categories

  1. Permanent Domicile
  2. COAFP-I: Children of serving IAF personnel
  3. COAFP-II: Children of retired/discharged/deceased IAF personnel

Note: Domicile Category is final and used for state-wise shortlisting and selection.

Medical Standards

  • Height:
    • Male: Minimum 152 cm
    • Female: Minimum 152 cm (relaxable to 147 cm for NE/Uttarakhand/Lakshadweep)
  • Chest (Male): Minimum 77 cm + 5 cm expansion
  • Weight: Proportional to height and age
  • Hearing: Normal hearing required
  • Teeth: Minimum 14 dental points
  • Eyesight: 6/12 in each eye, correctable to 6/6; no LASIK/PRK accepted
  • Pregnancy Test (for females): Mandatory and must be negative

Exam Pattern

Phase I – Online Exam

Subjects and Duration:

  • Science Subjects: 60 mins (English, Physics, Math)
  • Other Than Science Subjects: 45 mins (English, RAGA)
  • Both Streams: 85 mins (all four subjects)

Phase II – Physical & Adaptability Tests

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

For Males:

  • 1.6 km run in 7 mins
  • 10 push-ups in 1 min
  • 10 Sit-ups in 1 min
  • 20 squats in 1 min

For Females:

  • 1.6 km run in 8 mins
  • 10 sit-ups in 1.5 mins
  • 15 squats in 1 min

Adaptability Test-I

  • Written test to assess suitability for IAF duties across terrain and climates

Adaptability Test-II

  • Measures ability to adjust to military life and discipline

Phase III – Medical Examination

Conducted by Air Force medical staff, it includes:

  • Blood tests, urinalysis, chest X-ray, ECG
  • Ultrasonography for females
  • Dental, ENT, and eye exams

Additional Information

  • Agniveervayu Certificate: Issued on completion of 4 years
  • Can attempt NDA/AFCAT up to 3 times during service
  • No premature exit allowed except in rare, exceptional cases
  • Only Sikh candidates can maintain a beard/moustache as per religious traditions.
  • No ESM status after discharge

Career Growth Beyond 4 Years
After successful completion of 4 years, up to 25% of Agniveervayu will be considered for absorption into the regular cadre of the Indian Air Force as airmen.
